Tauira Journey

Katisha Peters - A Journey of Growth and Achievement

Looking back on my journey with Rukuhia Te Mahi, I realise just how far I have come. I did not always believe in myself or know where my future was heading, but the support, guidance, and encouragement from the tutors and everyone at Rukuhia Te Mahi helped me build my confidence and believe in my abilities.
Throughout my journey, I was given opportunities to step outside my comfort zone, learn new skills, and discover strengths I did not know I had. The positive environment and ongoing support encouraged me to keep moving forward and work towards my goals.
I am grateful to the people who supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me every step of the way. Their belief in my potential helped me develop the confidence to overcome challenges and create a better path for myself.
Gaining employment means much more to me than simply having a job. It represents how far I have come, the challenges I have overcome, and the progress I have made throughout my journey. It is a reflection of the hard work, determination, and support that helped me reach this point.
I am proud of myself, proud of my whānau, and thankful to Rukuhia Te Mahi for helping me take that next step towards a brighter future.

Piurangi Holt - Prepared for Employment and Making a Difference

Rukuhia Te Mahi helped prepare me for employment by building my confidence, strengthening my communication skills, and helping me understand the importance of working professionally with others. Throughout the programme, I learned about health and safety, teamwork, cultural values, and gained practical experience that I can apply in the workplace.
The support and encouragement I received from the tutors played a significant role in my journey. Their guidance helped me believe in my abilities, develop confidence in myself, and prepare for a career focused on helping others.
Since gaining employment as a Youth Mentor at EastBay REAP, I have experienced many positive changes in both my life and the lives of my whānau. I have become more confident, financially stable, and proud to be contributing to the development and wellbeing of rangatahi in our community.
Having a job has enabled me to better support my children and provide for my whānau. It has also allowed me to be a positive role model, demonstrating the value of hard work, commitment, and setting goals. I am proud of what I have achieved and grateful for the opportunities and support that helped me reach this point.
