Our dynamic programs builds foundational knowledge and skills across pre-trades industry, social, health, education, administration and in-house systems. This hands-on journey combines five weeks of theory with a five-week placement with our Eastern Bay of Plenty Iwi Alliance Providers and external networking partners.

This specialised training is designed for work-ready individuals who are committed and available for part-time or full-time employment or tertiary study, and who are motivated to work with our people and create positive change.

Hauora Program

Supports tauira to build essential skills for entry-level roles in health, education, and social services. It combines learning with hands-on experience to prepare tauira for meaningful futures

Program Structure
Phase 1: Theory Learning (6 Weeks)

Tauira gain foundational knowledge in:

  • Health and Safety
  • Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Te Pou Mataaho (model of care) Framework
  • Digital Literacy and Employability Skills
  • Privacy Act, Code of Ethics, and Health & Disability Code of Rights
  • Goal Setting, Professionalism, and Social Awareness
  • Conflict Resolution, Personal Safety, and Courageous Conversations
  • Case Noting, Documentation, and Assessment Tools
  • In-house Hauora System Knowledge

Phase 2: Work Placement (4 Weeks)

Tauira complete placements with Eastern Bay of Plenty Iwi Alliance providers or external partners.

Key Outcomes

By the end of the program, tauira will:

  • Understand key frameworks and values within hauora and social services
  • Strengthen digital and soft skills for workplace readiness
  • Be prepared for entry-level roles supporting whānau and communities
  • Earn a Level 2 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Accreditted by Te Whare Wananga o Awanuiarangi )

Pre-Trades Program

Supports tauira with the practical skills, certifications, and real-world experience needed to enter the construction and civil works industries. This hands-on training supports work readiness and future study pathways, while building confidence and capability

Building Construction Industry Training Organisation Level 2 Unit Standards includes:

  • Power Tools
  • Hand Tools
  • Safe Wellbeing
  • Communication

Phase 2: Work Placement (4 weeks)

Tauira complete a practical placement with industry partners, including the papakāinga projects and other Eastern Bay of Plenty Iwi Alliance providers. This phase offers real-world experience in construction-building and civil works environments.

By the end of the program, tauira will:

  • Gain hands-on experience in construction and civil works
  • Strengthen digital, communication, and workplace skills
  • Be ready for part-time or full-time employment or tertiary study
